In Scandinavia, the short summers are bursting with light, but the winters are long and dark, and many

Scandinavians suffer from seasonal affective disorder, locally known as ‘winter depression’. My work draws on personal experience with seasonal affective disorder to study the theme of longing for warmth, light and softness – and to examine the role of art in therapy.

The series contain images of flowers shot and edited on my cell phone in 2016. With this work I want to share hope and comfort through art. To invest the images with the simple but sometimes very elusive message that after even the darkest winter – eventually this will happen again.
